This site presented the opportunity to work on a Victorian home in one of Melbourne's finest streets. The house, built in 1886, was in original condition and situated on the corner of a bluestone lane.  Many of the period features had been removed over the years, including the verandah, so this project involved a great deal of research sourcing items so the restoration of the original home could be as authentic as possible.

The front facade and four front rooms were retained and restored and a 'free standing' modern extension with 200 sq. m basement underneath, with access off the lane, was constructed at the back.  The original building and new structure were connected via a glass link allowing natural light to flood the centre of the house.
